Getting started
Install ANR Tools, find the nodes in Nuke, and know what the trial, licences and updates do.
Install
- Download the installer from the download page, and close Nuke.
- Run it, accept the licence agreement and choose a folder (
C:\ANR Toolsunless you choose another). Leave Show ANR Tools in Nuke for this Windows user on. - Tick the AI model packs you want now, or none: a node that needs one asks the first time, and says how big it is.
- Start Nuke. The tools are under Nodes > ANR.
Find the nodes
Everything is under Nodes > ANR, in folders:
- Trackers: AI point, planar and vector tracking, the Scene Solver and STMap tracking, with Convert inside it for turning tracks, cards and cameras into other Nuke data.
- Masking: mattes from a click, carried through the shot and refined.
- Utility: depth and normals from a plate, and the nodes that comp with them.
- Simulations: fire, smoke, explosions, muzzle flashes, clouds, sparks, blood and lightning.
- Comp, Transform and Creative: compositing, camera shake and motion-design effects.
- Essential: the licence, updates, the AI upscaler, and the links to Photoshop and GPT.
You can also press Tab in the Node Graph and type part of a node's name. On a node's page here, Copy node for Nuke copies the node: click in Nuke's Node Graph and press Ctrl+V.
Trial and licence
Every tool runs in full for 7 days from the first time you use an ANR node, with nothing to sign up for. After that, Nuke still opens your scripts, but the output of every ANR node carries a watermark and the nodes' buttons are off until you activate a licence.
To activate, add ANR License (in Essential), paste the key from your purchase email into Licence Key and press Activate. Renewal is automatic while your subscription is paid. Moving to a new computer, render farms and the rest are in Help.
Updates and model packs
ANR Check for Updates (in Essential) looks for a new version. Model packs can be added or removed later in ANR Update; the AI models guide lists which nodes use which pack.
Reading these pages
Every node has a page with the same parts:
- Inputs: the node drawn as in Nuke. A solid line is an input the node needs, a dashed one is optional. Point at an input to see what it is for.
- Quick start: the steps to a first result. Tick them as you go; this browser remembers.
- The panel: the node's panel as Nuke shows it, with the values of a new node. Click any control to see what it does. Find a control searches every tab at once, labels and descriptions.
- All controls: every control with its description, default and options. The small grey name beside
each one is its script name, for expressions (
ANR_Glow1.radius) and Python (nuke.toNode("ANR_Glow1")["radius"]). - Tips, Good to know and Works with: better results, limits, and the nodes it is used with.
