ANR Check for Updates
Looks for a newer ANR Tools and new nodes, lists them, and installs only what you tick, once Nuke closes.
- Essential
- In every pack
Overview
ANR Check for Updates asks the ANR update server what is new and shows it in a window: new nodes, and updates for the nodes you have. You tick what you want, and ANR Update installs exactly that when you close Nuke, downloading only those files.
Nuke also checks by itself once a day, a little after it starts, in the background: Nuke never waits for the answer. Each new node is announced once, and updates you turned down are not offered again until they change. The menu command always shows everything.
What it makes
No node is made. The command opens a window in Nuke, and nothing changes until you choose Install when Nuke closes and close Nuke.
How to use it
- Run ANR Check for Updates.
- Wait a moment: the check runs in the background and Nuke stays usable. If nothing is new, a message says ANR Tools is up to date and which version you have.
- Otherwise a window lists NEW NODES, UPDATES FOR YOUR NODES, and new nodes AVAILABLE IN OTHER PACKS. What you can install starts ticked: untick what you do not want.
- Press Install when Nuke closes, or Not now to leave it for later.
- Save your work and close Nuke. ANR Update installs your choice, downloading only those files.
- Start Nuke again to use the new and updated nodes.
Tips
- What a ticked item needs comes with it, ticked and locked, with the reason shown under it.
- The core of ANR Tools (its menus, its start-up and ANR Update itself) is always updated together with any other update you choose.
- Each line shows its download size, and the window ends with notes about the release.
- Not now, or closing the window, keeps those updates from coming back by themselves until they change; the menu command shows them again at any time.
- ANR Update can also be run on its own from the ANR Tools install folder, with Nuke closed, for example to add model packs.
Good to know
- Needs an internet connection. If the update server cannot be reached, the menu command says so: try again later.
- Installing waits until Nuke has closed, because ANR Update replaces files that Nuke has open.
- An older release is never offered over the one you have.
- New nodes that your licence does not include are listed under AVAILABLE IN OTHER PACKS, with a See plans link, and cannot be ticked. An update your licence would not run is shown unticked, with the reason.
- The daily check runs only in Nuke's interface, never in command-line renders.
